Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan.
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
In a separate mixing bowl, mash the bananas with a fork until they're mostly smooth. Add the brown sugar, applesauce, melted coconut oil, and vanilla extract, and stir until everything is well combined.
Pour the wet ingredients into the bowl with the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Fold in the chocolate chips.
Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth out the top with a spatula.
Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the bread comes out clean.
Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then remove it from the pan and let it cool completely on a wire rack.
Slice and serve!
