Why You’ll Love This Recipe:

This Maple Brown Butter Banana Bread is warm and so comforting. The browned butter adds a depth of nutty richness, while the pure maple syrup imparts a natural sweetness. Together, these ingredients elevate your normal banana bread into something with such a cozy flavor! Also, using melted butter allows for moisture to be evenly distributed throughout the batter.

Maple Brown Butter Banana Bread Ingredients

  • Bananas: Choose ripe bananas for a sweeter and more flavorful bread.
  • Butter: Browning the butter enhances its flavor, but you can use regular melted butter if you prefer.
  • Maple Syrup: Opt for pure maple syrup for its distinct and authentic taste.
  • Eggs: Room temperature eggs ensure better incorporation into the batter.
  • Nuts: Walnuts or pecans add a delightful crunch, but feel free to omit them or use your favorite nuts.
  • Vanilla extract: adds a pleasant aroma and flavor to the bread

Expert Baking Tips:

  • Browning Butter: Keep a close eye on the butter while browning to prevent burning. It should have a golden hue and a nutty aroma.
  • Mixing Batter: Mix the wet and dry ingredients until just combined to avoid overmixing, which can result in a dense texture.
  • Mashing the Bananas: You can mash the bananas with a fork and leave some chunks or you can use a mixer to get them super creamy.
  • Adding Nuts: Fold nuts gently into the batter to distribute them evenly without deflating the mixture.
  • Bake time: Bake time can vary based on your oven. Gas ovens might take a bit longer than electric ovens for example!

Storage and Freezing:

This banana bread keeps well when stored in an airtight container at room temperature for 2-3 days. For longer storage, wrap slices in plastic wrap and freeze. Thaw slices as needed, or warm them in a toaster for a quick and comforting treat.

Maple Brown Butter Banana Bread

Ingredients

  • 2-3 ipe bananas, mashed
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup pure maple syrup
  • 2 eggs, room temperature
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Instructions

  • Preparation: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a loaf pan and line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
  • Brown the Butter: In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Continue cooking, swirling the pan occasionally, until the butter turns golden brown and releases a nutty aroma. Remove from heat and let it cool for a few minutes.
  • Mix Wet Ingredients: In a mixing bowl, combine the mashed bananas, browned butter, maple syrup, eggs, and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.
  • Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  • Combine Mixtures: Gradually add the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix. If using nuts, gently fold them into the batter.
  • Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Smooth the top with a spatula. Bake in the preheated oven for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Cool: Once baked, remove the banana bread from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10-15 minutes. Then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
