This healthy chocolate frosty is made with just 6 ingredients and is easy to customize with your favorite nutritional boosters. It makes the perfect breakfast, snack, or even dessert. Oh, and it seriously tastes like a Wendy’s frosty!
6 Ingredient Healthy Chocolate Frosty
That’s right! You’ll only need 6 ingredients to make the creamiest, most delicious chocolate frosty recipe ever! Here is what you’ll need to make it:
- Banana: I used a frozen banana to keep this smoothie creamy and cold
- Cocoa powder: that rich chocolatey flavor comes from cocoa powder.
- Coconut milk: helps add a creamier, thicker texture to your frosty. You could use unsweetened almond milk if you’d like.
- Almond butter: a tablespoon or two of creamy almond butter makes this smoothie delicious and adds some healthy fats/ protein to your drink.
- Maple syrup: giving it that sweeter chocolate flavor!
- Vanilla extract: always need this for a little extra flavor boost
Easy Ingredient Swaps
- Choose your milk. Feel free to use whatever milk you like in this recipe. Almond milk will have a neutral taste in smoothies, coconut milk will add a subtle sweetness and creaminess, and regular milk will boost your protein intake.
- Swap the nut butter. Feel free to swap almond butter for cashew butter or peanut butter. I tend to avoid peanut butter as my nut butter unless I am making a peanut butter dessert/ smoothie.
- Use cacao powder. This also offers a rich chocolate flavor that is rich in iron.
How to Make the Creamiest Chocolate Frosty
With a few tips and tricks, you will have the best Healthy Chocolate Frosty!
- Use frozen fruit. This helps keep the smoothies cod and thick. You can always add some ice but it doesn’t always blend as well.
- Add more liquid when needed. Don’t be afraid to add in more liquid if your drink is too thick or won’t blend properly. If you have a regular blender you may need to add more liquid.
- Sweeten to taste. If your healthy chocolate frosty doesn’t taste sweet enough, add a tablespoon of maple syrup, honey, or 1 pitted Medjool date
- Start at a low speed. You should start blending at a low speed and then gradually increase to a high speed to help blend all the ingredients
