Benefits of Collagen

I personally love adding collagen into my recipes because it gives them more protein.

Also, collagen is a major component of your skin.

It plays a role in strengthening skin, plus may benefit elasticity and hydration. Several studies have even shown that collagen peptides can help slow the aging of your skin by reducing wrinkles and dryness! [1]

There are so many benefits that I could think of but let me list them out to you to keep this short and sweet:

  • helps relieve joint pain
  • could prevent bone loss
  • could boost muscle mass
  • promotes heart health
  • increase strength in hair and nails
  • better gut health

Healthy Birthday Cake Donut Tips

What can I swap for the collagen? Try swapping with your fave vanilla protein powder.

Can I make these donuts vegan? I haven’t tried making these donuts vegan, but you could try to use  a flax egg in place of the regular egg

Can I use a different type of flour? Besides almond flour, I recommend using whole wheat flour and spelt flour for healthier options. All-purpose flour can be used as well!

Once your donuts are out of the oven make sure you let them cool before you remove them from the donut pan. This is the donut pan I always use- it makes cute small donuts, which is fine by me because MORE DONUTS!

If you want to add sprinkles you could also get the “most Paleo” store-bought organic sprinkles called Let’s Do Organic which contains just a few simple ingredients.

How to Store Healthy Birthday Cake Donuts

You can store these donuts in the fridge for 4-5 days. If you are someone who likes eating warm food, heat it up in the microwave for a bit or keep it out on the counter for a day or two if you think these babies are going to go fast!
