Say hello to a dessert I'm calling — Halloween crack bars! This festive desserts combines saltines, chocolate, and butter to make one of the BEST holiday desserts! You do not need to be a skilled baker to make these and can even put your own spin on the toppings.

  • Saltine crackers: you will probably need a sleeve or 2 depending on how large your pan is! You can also use ritz crackers or graham crackers!
  • Unsalted butter: I almost always bake with unsalted butter so I can control the amount of salt that goes into my recipes.
  • Brown sugarmake sure it is well-packed
  • Chocolate chips – I used semi-sweet, but milk chocolate also works. My fave brand for quality chocolate is Ghirardelli
  • Toppings: sprinkles, Reeses pieces, candies, and anything else you like

  • pecans, walnuts, or cashews
  • M&Ms
  • crushed Oreos
  • mini Reese’s cups
  • sea salt
  • candy corn

1.Can I use different crackers instead of saltines? Yes, you can use different crackers like graham crackers or Ritz crackers. However, saltines give the best contrast between sweet and salty flavors. Graham crackers will add a bit more sweetness, while Ritz will add a buttery taste.

2. How long should I bake the toffee layer? Bake the toffee-covered crackers for 5 minutes in a 400°F oven. This helps the sugar and butter mixture firm up and create that classic toffee texture.

3. Can I use milk chocolate instead of semi-sweet chocolate? Absolutely! Milk chocolate will give a sweeter taste, while semi-sweet chocolate provides a more balanced flavor. You can also use dark chocolate if you prefer a less sweet option.

Halloween Crack Bars

Ingredients

  • 35-40 saltines
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar

For decorating

  • eye candies
  • Reeses pieces
  • Halloween sprinkles

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 400F
  • Line a 10 x 15 pan with aluminum foil and lightly grease
  • Place saltine crackers on a cookie sheet
  • Melt the butter and sugar in a sauce pan over medium heat
  • Once the butter is melted bring to a boil for 3 minutes while stirring constantly
  • Pour the mixture over the crackers and spread evenly
  • Bake for 5 minutes and let cool for 5 minutes
  • Add the chocolate to a bowl and microwave for 1 minute intervals, stirring after each minute
  • Spoon chocolate over cracker and spread evenly
  • Top with sprinkles and other toppings! Let it sit in the fridge for about 20 minutes or more to harden. Enjoy!
