A healthy on-the-go smoothie to get your morning started! Pssst it’s also vegan 🙂
Ever want a smoothie that tastes like one of your favorite breakfast foods? Yeah me too. For the last week or so my family and I seem to be on a smoothie craze. From strawberry banana smoothies to totally green smoothies, we’ve been blending up a storm!
So once I was finally able to stake my claim on the blender, I knew it was time to try a different recipe. When making my smoothies I like to include fruits I love while also including ingredients that are healthy and good sources of nutrients. Therefore, I thought I’d try something new and exciting: enter my Blueberry Oat Smoothie.
I’ll admit, I’ve never made a smoothie like this before. I was always one to crave a cool regular strawberry banana drink or a simple mixed berry smoothie, but I was feeling a little adventurous this morning. Anyway, I digress. So this morning I decided to make myself something a little different. I wanted to create a drink that had a little more pizazz. Thus, I came up with my Blueberry Oat Smoothie that is vegan, dairy free and packed with antioxidants!
Oh and did I mention it makes for the perfect snack or dessert!?
To get started I made sure grab my bag of frozen bananas out of the freezer. I LOVE bananas so I always make sure I add them into my smoothies. For me personally, I feel as if they really make the smoothie. Ya know?
Next I grabbed 1 cup of the most important ingredient: blueberries! For a cold and refreshing drink I make sure to add frozen fruits to my drinks so I don’t have to worry about grinding ice cubes. It’s just wayyyyy to much work for. Lazy girl problems am I right??
I also made sure to have cinnamon and Vanilla Extract at the ready to really give it that muffin feel to it. Also, when has vanilla extract ever done you wrong?
To add a little more flavor, grab some lemon juice, flax seeds and your old fashion oats. Now lets get started on that Blueberry Oat Smoothie!!

- 1/2 medium sized banana (frozen)
- 1 cup frozen blueberries
- 1/2 tbsp ground flax seeds can be a little lesss
- 1/4 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 3/4 cup unsweetened almond milk
- 2 tsp lemon juice
- 1/2 cup old fashioned oats
Ingredients

- Blend all ingredients together until smooth! Then pour into a glass and drink up!!
