This Blueberry Banana Protein Smoothie is the perfect way to start your day!
A healthy breakfast that is super
refreshing (especially on a hot summer day!)
I noticed a little bit of a sore throat coming on and I did not feel like having hot food this morning!
It’s also a VERY humid summer here in NY, so I decided it was time to make myself a long overdue smoothie!
I originally intended to experiment and make myself a strawberry lemonade smoothie, but turned out we did not have any frozen strawberries in the house. Or any strawberries at all for that matter….
so that was pretty awwkard .
BUT the good news was, I had tons of frozen blueberries!
And so my blueberry banana protein smoothie was born! (I literally love banana so much, there’s not many smoothies or bowls I DON’T put them in! #sorrynotsorrry)
Did you know:
Blueberries actually boast a TON of health benefits. Some include increased energy (which I need with this cold coming on -___- ), lowered risk of heart diseases, diabetes, and obesity. Sounds like an awesome superfood to me!!
So you can just imagine all the goodness in this smoothie!! :O
Making it is easy too, which is awesome for any busy morning!
You can even prepare this the night before by putting all of your necessary ingredients in a container or jar! You can leave this in the refrigerator or freezer depending on how cold you like your drinks!
After you blend all of the essentials together, you can add a few toppings just for a little something extra! 🙂
Of course, since I am obsessed with any type of nut butter I had to drizzle my favorite almond butter on top!
My favorite, in my totally unbiased opinion, is the Woodstock Smooth Lightly Toasted Almond Butter (unsalted version).
Next, I decided to add some Bob’s Red Mill Unsweetened Flaked Coconut. It’s awesome for topping your bowls or drinks with since they aren’t super fine!
If you’re feeling another type of blueberry smoothie I suggest you try out my Blueberry Oat Smoothie 😉 It’s def a keeper!!
Personally, I have a hard time deciding between that one and my Berry Cherry Acai Bowl ! :O
Let me know what y’all think!!
