About Me

About Me - The Clean EaterHey there! I’m Caitlin and the founder of Caitlin’s Table. I am the recipe developer, photographer, expert taste tester, and more around here!

Why Cleaneating?

Raised by a mother who was always looking for the healthiest foods and by a father who worked hard in the gym, fitness has always been in the forefront in my mind, especially when I started working out diligently in 2012. Although I worked out quite a bit throughout my teenage years, I noticed that I was gaining a little bit of weight even though I was eating the same. Now that I am no longer growing I knew that the sad, unfortunate truth was that I would have to change my diet.

Upon my immersion into the world of fitness and healthy living, I had stumbled upon statistics that blew my mind.

  • About 70% of adults are considered to be overweight and about 40% are considered to be obese
  • More than 1 in 20 adults have EXTREME obesity

Just these two facts alone left me speechless and made me think back to my days beginning my fitness journey.  Eating healthy is not always easy, and I can attest to that. However, I truly believe that there are ways to still enjoy food while being healthy all at the same time. That is why starving yourself is NOT a recommendation when trying to not only lose weight but to be healthy while you do so.

In learning from other health and wellness influencers as well as from personal experience, there are a few major key points that will be the foundation of The Clean Eater.

Eat periodically to nourish and replenish your body

Binge eating for lunch or dinner is never a good idea. It’s often best to spread out your meals and include a healthy snack in between to keep your metabolism active

Breakfast really IS the most important meal of the day

I know many of us dreaded this phrase when we were children and maybe still do today. However, IT REALLY IS TRUE!

Having a nice nutritious breakfast kick starts your metabolism in the morning and gets you ready for the day.

It can replenish your glucose supply and promotes weight maintenance.

Quality over quantity

To my surprise and probably many others’, the number of calories or amount of fat in a food doesn’t necessarily make it bad.

Most high-quality foods are made with healthy fats that are nutritious for the body.

Don’t let the calories make the decisions for you. Let the nutrition value and quality determine the food you put on your dinner plate.

Everybody’s body is different

Over the years, I have come to accept the fact that eating pasta and/or ice-cream would not make me maintain a skinny body. Instead, I’d most likely gain weight.

However, pasta eating may not have as bad of an effect on some.

Some people may be gluten intolerant while others may be lactose intolerant.

Everybody is different and there are different ways for everyone to reach their optimal goals.

I hope that I will inspire you to begin your very own journeys in discovering what works best for your bodies.
