I am so so excited to share this recipe with you! I typically share a lot of sweet recipes so a savory one was totally necessary. This Spring Pea Pesto is literally so good I eat it with a spoon. NO SHAME HERE!! My siblings always. thought I was weird for doing stuff like that.
It is such a simple savory recipe to add to your diet! It is flavorful and made with fresh simple ingredients! I recommend using frozen peas for the green color!
Ingredients for Pea Pesto
One of the best things about this recipe is that you will only need 7 ingredients and it’s super easy to make! I am talking about holding down a button on your food processor easy! Here is what you will need!
- Parmesan cheese (shredded or grated)
- green peas
- olive oil
- garlic
- basil
- lemons
- salt
Tips for the Best Pea Pesto
Pesto is one of the easier spreads to make yourself. You only need a handful of ingredients and a food processor.
- Use quality ingredients – the key to a bright pesto is using good ingredients. You can use canned peas but it may not. yield the same green color.
- Taste the pesto as you make it -this is a must! Sometimes you may not add enough flavor and your final product will not be up to your standards
- Store in an airtight container – this step is essential if you do not want your pesto to turn brown or go bad right away. You can store in an airtight container for up to 3 weeks!

While this Pea Pesto can easily be scooped with a spoon and eaten like ice cream, there are many other normal ways to en joy your spread!

Pasta: This is a given. Growing up my mom would always make pesto and add it to our pastas. It is such a tasty dinner!
In a salad: I love adding pesto to my quinoa salads or even regular salads
Tofu: Hear me out! Make a tofu scramble and add your pea pesto! It tastes AMAZING and can be a breakfast or dinner recipe!
Serve as a Dip: This is a great dip for your charcuterie board
On a Sandwich: Pea Pesto is a great spread for your toast! Add it to your turkey sandwich or anything else you are eating!
Pea Pesto
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup packed basil leaves
- 1 cup peas
- 1/2 cup parmesan cheese
- 1 lemon squeezed
- 2-3 cloves garlic
- 1/3 cup oil
Instructions
- Combine all of the ingredients food processor and pulse until combined, about 3 minutes. Blend to your desired consistency. If the pesto is too dry, drizzle in 1 Tablespoon more olive oil in slowly.
- Store in a sealed container in the fridge for up to 3 weeks
