These simple flourless vegan brownies are made with basic ingredients and are keto, paleo, dairy-free, and so much more!
I love me a healthy dessert recipe! These fudgy flourless vegan brownies are made with no grains and sweetened with apple sauce (& coconut sugar if you desire!)
Something that has become an area of experimentation for me lately has been coming up with recipes that involve only a handful of ingredients and are flour FREE.
Using 5 ingredients or less is a challenge but one that I am totally up for. As someone who works full time and does NOT have the patience to go searching for millions of different ingredients, I LOVE recipes that are simple and use products I ACTUALLY have in the house.
I sometimes see recipes with like charcoal or things of that nature?? UMM WHAT? Don’t have baking charcoal or whatever it’s called lying around my house 😅
Why Make Brownies Without Flour?
So here’s what’s up. There is ZERO FLOUR in these brownies. Ya heard me! NONE.
Not even gluten-free flour. I used protein powder and cocoa powder instead! The powders act as the gluten in this recipe, adding fudginess and overall texture to the brownies.
They are:
- fudgy
- rich
- gooey
Seriously, just look at them! I can’t think of a more satisfying healthy treat – especially if you’re a chocoholic like I am. The idea that some people have to pass up one of the greatest desserts eva seriously leaves me sputtering.
But as Kermit says, ” BUT THAT’S NONE OF MY BUSINESS” *sips tea*
Ingredients for These Flourless Vegan Brownies
Lucky for you, you won’t need to go searching too long for the ingredients in this simple recipe.
To get started you will need:
- Unsweetened cocoa powder: One of my favorites is Hershey’s – You can find it on Amazon Prime Pantry HERE
- Your favorite chocolate protein powder
- Unsweetened apple sauce
- Coconut sugar
- OPTIONAL: mini chocolate morsels
Okay, so I love love LOVE chocolate, so I had to add a little more to my brownies. This is completely optional, but the more the merrier am I right?
As of late, I’ve been baking with Enjoy Life morsels. They are all-natural, gluten-free, allergy-friendly and vegan. Does it get better than that!?!? Also, did I mention, they taste SOOOO GOOD??
I love eating them by the handfuls after dinner LOL. I am not kidding. My mom often gets mad that I pick them out of the trail mix but, can ya blame me? Oh well! I ain’t even sorry!
What to Mix with Your Flourless Vegan Brownies?
Like I said above, I added some Enjoy Life mini chocolate morsels to the recipe because, well, I’m addicted to those things. But, here are some more ideas for add-ins:
- heath crunch
- almond slivers
- walnuts
- pecans
- peanut butter chips
- white chocolate chips
STORAGE
Can’t eat all of these flourless vegan brownies in one sitting? Don’t worry, I’ve got a way for you to store these babies for later! No matter what, I recommend you warm it up quickly in the microwave for 20 seconds to get those chocolate morsels a little bit melty on top.
Counter: store in a sealed container on the counter for up to 3-5 days.
Fridge: store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days.
Freezer: make sure they are completely cooled first, then, wrap each brownie in plastic wrap . Cover that with tin foil and store in the freezer for up to 3 months!
